Welcome to A Girl’s Guide to Reinvention!!
I’m so happy you’re here!! In this program we’re going to discuss what reinvention is and how to do it from a healthy place, based on whole-human wellness. By the end of the upcoming 8 weeks, you’ll have outlined exactly how to successfully complete your reinvention.

It’s likely you found your way here because you finally reached the point of, “I have to do something!!” or “something has to change” or “I just can’t go on like this.”
I believe that for real, whole-human reinvention, you need to incorporate whole-human wellness.
I ran into the same issue when I was researching “wellness”, so many different definitions, so many different pillars, so I created a model for whole-human wellness – I say “whole-human” because there are so many different variations of what the internet says “wellness” is.
Let me get this out of the way first thing, I don’t believe people can “change”. I believe, as humans, we have certain characteristics that are engrained in our DNA that cannot be altered. I believe that these characteristics can be hidden temporarily by some people, but not changed.
I believe circumstances and situations can be changed, but not DNA.
Having said that, I do believe we can learn, grow, evolve, develop and make different choices as to how we treat ourself, how we treat others and how we live.
Speaking of how we live, I believe reinvention is more how we see ourselves and how we go about “living”, rather than trying to change who we are.
I was talking to someone today about rebranding, and I chuckled, telling her that reinvention is like next-level rebranding .
Reinvention does not simply consist of physical things like, losing 10 pounds, cutting or coloring our hair, as examples – or, as another example – as simply changing your logo or brand colors.
I believe that reinvention begins on the inside, that it includes reconnecting with you and figuring out exactly who that is if you need to, disproving lies you’ve allowed yourself to believe, freeing yourself from you and a lot of releasing, to name a few. I also believe that reinvention is something you need to do for yourself. The desire may have come forth because of something someone else said, or pointed out, or maybe in part, something we want to do for our kids, our partner, etc., but ultimately it has to be something you do for you.
So what is reinvention, exactly? I’ve done a lot of research on the topic for my book, but never found a definition that I believed in, or that I believed covered everything so I created a model of what I believe it is, from there, applying it to another model I created of what I believe whole-human wellness is. Remember, I do like to reinvent the wheel every chance I get .
All joking about wheel-reinvention aside – a big part of what I want to do here, with Unconventional Everyday™, is teach what I believe in.
I believe that women are unique individuals, with our own path to follow and our own way to follow it, but society has conditioned most humans to believe there’s one way to be. Period. Society has conditioned most humans to believe that if we don’t fit in, we just don’t fit.
I don’t agree with any of that. Society is getting a little more understanding, but the old school expectations, especially of women, are still very prevalent.
You’ll notice that my definition of “reinvention” includes a lot of releasing.
Reinventing yourself, for real – really doing it – is not a decision most come to lightly, it’s something you have to commit to doing while allowing yourself some grace, because it’s not going to happen overnight, there’s a tremendous amount of inner work with reinventing yourself, please really think it through and do all of the work and don’t rush yourself, you have 1 week for each module. You can take longer if you need to, but please take your time.
Like I said, I don’t believe reinvention consists only of physical things like, losing 10 pounds, cutting or coloring our hair, as examples.
In my opinion, real-human reinvention involves all aspects of wellness, we’ll be going through each of them together.
If you Google “wellness” Depending on your search, most will bring up anywhere from 4 to 12 aspects of wellness, some lists say the same thing, some are totally different, which might make you scratch your head and wonder what the heck “wellness” actually is.
The majority of reinventing yourself is inner work, kind of like baking a cake, you bake the cake first, then you frost it, which for this analogy would be addressing the physical. And, when you work on and heal what’s troubling you on the inside, it’s reflected on the outside.
You may have figured this out already, but I have a very out-of-the-box way of thinking. I’m not sure how I ended up this way, but I’m very thankful for I did, even though my different way of thinking has not always been accepted of approved of by others, especially in a small town.
Before we get started, let’s get clear on a couple of definitions, “health” typically refers to mental, emotional and physical while “wellness” refers to whole-human – or holistic – health.
Again with the reinventing of the wheel, I created a model, made up of what I consider to be the pillars of whole-human-wellness:
I highly suggest doing all of your module work in a notebook or journal so you can easily reference everything. I recommend writing, but if you’re super-techy and prefer to type that works too. I’m a big fan of writing because the more you write, the more neural connections you form as you do it, but do whatever works best for you!!
